Only fitting to start the new year with a classic 1962 Vette, “Maxine”. Maxine has been in the family for 35 years. My father-in-law, Wil Coudriet, was the third owner, having acquired the vehicle in 1987. At the time Wil bought the vehicle, the car was white with a red interior, as the previous owner had repainted the vehicle white from its original Roman Red. In the fall of 2013, Nancy and I bought the car from Nancy’s father, with the understanding that, if he would sell it to us for a “friends and family price,” we would have the vehicle restored. After a two-and-a-half-year restoration, Maxine emerged from the “spa” in her original Roman Red with a fully-restored red leather interior and white convertible top. The vehicle has a numbers-matching 327 cubic inch engine and just under 47,000 original miles. Maxine is one of only 350 Corvettes manufactured in 1962 with a power convertible top, the mechanism for which has likewise been restored.
