Another fantastic event organized by RTP club members. From the moment you arrived at the Doubletree in Asheville to check in on Friday all the way to the blow-out Saturday night – it was top notch all the way!
The weekend started out with check-in and receipt of your “goodie bag” which included a bottle of Biltmore wine. Now that’s the way to start an event. The social Friday night was so large that it overflowed from the private room into the hotel manager’s reception area. There were over 100 Corvette owners present not just from RTP Corvettes, but also clubs hailing from VA, FL and beyond.
It was an early call on Saturday to line up for the caravan to Biltmore estate. Unfortunately, the police were not able to escort us due to other commitments, so a few members took a scenic detour on the Biltmore estate (that’s all part of the fun). But, everyone ended up at the Biltmore residence for their own personal photo with their car in front of the mansion and then the large group shot of all cars. It was fun to watch the amount of coordination it took to make that staging come together.
Breakfast following the photo shoot was in the Stables Cafe at the estate. It was a full buffet in a private area. The food was second to none. Oh and there was some inside joke about bacon…rest assured, there was plenty of bacon to go around. After breakfast everyone was free to explore the estate, go into town or do any of the other activities that they signed up for. Some members did Tail of the Dragon. We opted for the wine and chocolate seminar on the estate along with a tour of the winery.
That evening, we all came together for a buffet dinner in the Lion’s Crest – a private event area on the estate. WOW! Glass windows covered an entire wall overlooking the grounds. Everything was decorated in twinkling white lights. The setting was gorgeous. And the food…oh the food was a culinary dream. Everyone boarded private shuttles that took us to the mansion for the candlelight tour. It was great because you could do the tour at your own pace.
It was a fun filled, fantastic weekend.
